eBrigade On-call duty module
On-call duty
See at a glance who is on call tonight, in which role and for what period. The On-call duty module centralises the entry and tracking of on-call duty by org chart role, with a list view for HR tracking, a calendar view for clarity on the ground and a home page widget showing current on-call cover without any navigation.
These buttons are about the full eBrigade subscription: this module is included at no extra cost in every plan.
Entry and tracking of on-call duty by organisation-chart role: filterable list view, calendar view, Upcoming/In progress/Finished statuses, overlap alert and a home-page widget.
What is eBrigade’s On-call duty module?
Entry and tracking of on-call duty by org chart role: filterable list view, calendar view, Upcoming/Ongoing/Ended statuses, overlap alerts and a home page widget. It is included at no extra cost in every eBrigade plan.
Why use the On-call duty module?
Finding out who is actually on call often means cross-checking spreadsheets, making calls and comparing calendars. Outside office hours, the person in charge is working blind, and nothing stops the same person being given two on-call duties over the same period, or an on-call slot being assigned to a staff member who is already absent. An on-call duty that is unfilled, doubled up or assigned to someone absent is a real operational risk on the day you need to reach someone.
What On-call duty changes in eBrigade
The module displays on-call duty by org chart role (duty chief, duty officer, technical or medical on-call…) in a filterable list view and a calendar view. Each on-call duty carries a clear status — Upcoming, Ongoing, Ended — and the system automatically alerts you if it overlaps with another on-call duty for the same person or falls during a recorded absence. When an on-call duty becomes active, the corresponding role is automatically carried over into the org chart. A home page widget always shows who is on call, without having to open the module.
What you can do with On-call duty
Each on-call duty links a staff member to an org chart role (duty chief, duty officer, technical on-call…) and to an organisation, faithfully reflecting your actual organisation rather than a flat list.
An Upcoming, Ongoing or Ended badge is calculated automatically from the dates: you can see instantly who is covering the current period without rereading the dates line by line.
Both at entry and in the list, eBrigade detects whether an on-call duty overlaps with another on-call duty for the same person and shows the conflicts before you confirm — no more duplicate assignments going unnoticed.
If a staff member has an absence recorded during the on-call period, an alert appears directly in the list, so you don’t rely on someone who won’t be there.
When an on-call duty becomes active, the corresponding role is automatically assigned to the staff member in the section’s org chart, and removed at the end — the org chart always reflects who actually holds the post.
Track on-call duty in a filterable list (role, staff member, section, period) with direct contact by email or phone, in a calendar view to spot gaps in cover, and via a configurable home page widget showing current on-call cover.
Step by step
In the settings, designate the org chart roles that can be on call and, for each one, choose whether it should appear in the home page widget.
The person in charge creates an on-call duty in a few seconds: role, organisation, staff member and start/end period. Along the way, eBrigade checks for overlaps with another on-call duty for that person and flags any absence recorded during the period.
View on-call duty in a filterable list (role, staff member, section, period) or in a calendar view, with an Upcoming / Ongoing / Ended status on each line. The home page widget always shows who is on duty.
Where this module really pays off
Fire and rescue services (SDIS) & firefighters: tracking of on-call duty by station or section, with filters by role and Ongoing status to see at once who is covering the shift.
Patient transport & SMUR (mobile emergency and resuscitation units): medical and paramedical on-call duty entered by org chart role, with an alert if a staff member is already absent during the period.
Private security & guarding: technical or security on-call cover visible in a calendar, with automatic overlap detection.
First-aid associations: current on-call cover shown on the home page so that every post manager knows whom to call.
Local authority technical services: tracking of operational on-call duty by section, with a history viewable per staff member and the role carried over automatically during the on-call period.
Frequently asked questions
Can several on-call roles be managed in parallel (medical, technical, management)?
Yes. You are free to enable the org chart roles that can be on call. The same person can hold several roles, and the list and calendar views can be filtered by role to tell them apart clearly.
Who enters on-call duties?
Entry is done by the person in charge: creating, editing or deleting an on-call duty requires the corresponding rights on the section concerned. It is not something staff members declare freely, which keeps the on-call schedule under management’s control.
Does the module prevent double assignments and conflicts?
Yes. On saving, eBrigade detects whether the on-call duty overlaps with another on-call duty for the same person and shows the conflicts for confirmation before validating. The list also flags absences recorded during an on-call period.
How does on-call duty fit with the org chart and the schedule?
On-call duties are based on org chart roles. While an on-call duty is ongoing, the role is automatically carried over to the staff member in their section’s org chart, then removed at the end. The calendar view displays on-call duties on a shared calendar.
How can I quickly see who is on call today?
Each on-call duty shows an Ongoing status, and a configurable home page widget lists current on-call cover for the roles you have chosen to show there — without having to open the module.
Is this module included in eBrigade?
Yes, the On-call duty module is part of eBrigade. Its availability depends on your rights and on how your organisation’s org chart roles are set up.
