eBrigade First-aid cover (DPS) module

Size your first-aid cover to the national standard, without a spreadsheet

Enter your event’s attendance and risk factors: eBrigade applies the RIS formula (ratio of first-aiders required) from the French order (arrêté) of 7 November 2006, recalculates the type of cover live (PAPS, DPS-PE, ME, GE) and the number of first-aiders, and suggests a breakdown into sectors, posts, teams and pairs. The result is saved on the activity, ready to back up your application.

First-aid cover (DPS)

Regulatory sizing of planned first-aid cover (DPS) for events — RIS calculation, PAPS/PE/ME/GE type — attached to the activity.

In short

What is the eBrigade First-aid cover (DPS) module?

Regulatory sizing of planned first-aid cover (DPS, dispositifs prévisionnels de secours): RIS calculation and PAPS/PE/ME/GE type, linked to the activity. It is included at no extra cost in every eBrigade plan.

The problem

Why use the First-aid cover (DPS) module?

Before every event, the person in charge redoes the sizing calculation by hand: out comes the spreadsheet, in goes the attendance figure, then the activity, environment and response-time coefficients are added up, and the pairs, posts and sectors counted. Every event starts from scratch. One misread coefficient or a forgotten box, and the declared cover is undersized on the day — with direct legal and operational risk before the supervising authority.

What changes

What the First-aid cover (DPS) module changes in eBrigade

The module applies the official RIS formula — i × (P / 1000) with i = P2 + E1 + E2 — based on public attendance (P1) and the three regulatory risk factors. The calculation updates live with every choice: it determines the type of cover (PAPS, DPS-PE, DPS-ME, DPS-GE or referral to the competent authority), gives the number of first-aiders and suggests a full breakdown into sectors, posts, teams and pairs, with the expected command structure (cover commander, sector leaders, LAT). The sizing is saved on the activity and complies with the RNMSC-DPS (the French national framework for civil-protection missions).

Features

What you can do with First-aid cover (DPS)

Live RIS calculation, compliant with the framework

The module applies the official formula i × (P / 1000) from the order of 7 November 2006 and recalculates the result instantly whenever a parameter changes, with no manual calculation or spreadsheet.

Automatic classification of the type of cover

Based on the RIS obtained, the module directly determines the cover required — PAPS, DPS-PE, DPS-ME, DPS-GE, or referral to the competent authority below the minimum threshold — with the corresponding composition note.

Three guided risk factors

You choose the activity (seated, standing 1/2/3), the characteristics of the environment and the response time of the public emergency services; each option carries its official coefficient (0.25 to 0.40) and its definition, for traceable sizing.

Ready-to-use operational breakdown

Beyond the number of first-aiders, the module breaks the headcount down into sectors, posts, teams and pairs, and specifies the expected command structure: cover commander, sector leaders and logisticians (LAT) as a minimum.

Specific cover for performers

A separate field lets you add the equivalent number of first-aiders needed for performers or participants, with a free-text description; the overall headcount automatically adds up public and performers.

Linked to the activity and secured

The sizing is saved on the relevant activity and subject to eBrigade access rights: only authorised profiles or the event leader can edit it, and the calculation locks once the event is closed.

How it works

Step by step

1
Enter the request and the attendance

Enter the declared public attendance (P1) and, where relevant, the specific requirement for performers. The module uses this data for the regulatory RIS formula.

2
Select the risk factors

Choose the activity, the characteristics of the environment and the response time of the public emergency services. Each option carries its official coefficient and the RIS is recalculated live.

3
Read the calculated cover

The module displays the type of DPS, the number of first-aiders, the overall headcount and an example breakdown into sectors, posts, teams and pairs.

4
Save it on the activity

The sizing is attached to the activity and kept as the regulatory reference for building teams and backing up your application.

Use cases

Where this module really pays off

Approved civil-protection associations: RNMSC-compliant DPS sizing, with instant RIS calculation and PAPS / PE / ME / GE classification ready for the declaration.

Protection Civile & Red Cross: automatic breakdown of the headcount into sectors, posts, teams, pairs and command, to build teams without recounting by hand.

Federations & sports event organisers: sizing per activity directly in the schedule, from a small gathering to a large parade with a moving crowd.

Cultural events & shows: separate cover for performers on top of the public, with a consistent overall headcount.

Preparing large events: the formula automatically caps the effect of attendance above 100,000 people, in line with the framework.

Module FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculation follow current French regulations?

Yes. The module applies the RIS formula — i × (P / 1000), with i = P2 + E1 + E2 — and the PAPS, DPS-PE, DPS-ME and DPS-GE thresholds from the order of 7 November 2006 (RNMSC-DPS, NOR INTE0600910A). The activity, environment and response-time coefficients are those of the framework, and the page links to the official text.

What exactly does the calculation produce?

The module gives the type of cover required, the number of first-aiders, the overall headcount, an example breakdown (sectors, posts, teams, pairs) and the expected command structure: cover commander, sector leaders and LAT as a minimum. Composition notes are generated automatically according to the sizing.

Can we plan specific cover for performers on top of the public?

Yes. A separate field lets you enter the equivalent number of first-aiders needed for performers, with a free-text description. The overall headcount takes both populations into account.

Is the sizing linked to the activity in eBrigade?

Yes. The calculation is attached to the relevant activity and saved with it. The calculated headcount then serves as the reference for building teams in the eBrigade schedule.

Can we produce the risk assessment grid?

Yes. For activity types that enable it, the activity’s Documents tab offers the risk assessment grid, in full or first page only, pre-filled with the sizing: headcount, P2, E1 and E2 indicators, risk index and RIS.

Who can edit the sizing?

Editing is restricted to profiles with the corresponding permission or to the event leader. Other users can still view the calculation, and it locks automatically once the event is closed.
