eBrigade Dropbox module
Access your Dropbox files without switching tools
A Dropbox file browser built into eBrigade: search, sorting, PDF preview and image thumbnails, upload and download, without ever leaving the platform. The connection is set up per section or globally via OAuth, with separate rights depending on the action.
These buttons are about this optional module: add-on pricing and a 1-month trial of the module.
Dropbox file browser built into eBrigade: paginated table with search, sorting and configurable columns, PDF preview, image thumbnails, upload, download and deletion, after OAuth setup per section or globally.
What is eBrigade’s Dropbox module?
A Dropbox file browser built into eBrigade: paginated table with search, sorting and configurable columns, PDF preview, image thumbnails, upload, download and deletion, after OAuth set-up per section or globally. It is available as an option, so each organisation can switch it on as needed.
Why use Dropbox?
Your eBrigade documents (reports, attachments, training files) and your Dropbox folders live in two separate silos. Finding the right document in the right place means searching two different interfaces, with the risk of working on an out-of-date version.
What Dropbox changes in eBrigade
Once the administrator has set up OAuth (per section or globally), the module displays a full-featured Dropbox file browser: paginated table with search, sorting and configurable columns, thumbnails for images and PDF preview via a temporary link. Your teams list, upload, download and delete their files without leaving eBrigade, with separate rights depending on the action.
What you can do with Dropbox
Browse your Dropbox in a paginated table with a search bar, sorting by column and configurable column display (type, name, modification date, size). The folder structure mirrors that of your Dropbox.
PDF files open in preview via a temporary link and a built-in viewer, and images show their batch-generated thumbnails directly in the list, without downloading them first.
Upload a local file to Dropbox, download an existing document or delete a file (with confirmation) directly from the built-in browser, without going through the Dropbox website.
Each organisation can enter its own Dropbox app credentials or share a common global configuration. A guided wizard with tutorial screenshots walks the administrator through creating the Dropbox developer app.
Permissions are granular: reading, uploading, editing and deleting files are separate rights, which can be assigned independently by profile and section.
Dropbox credentials (key, secret, refresh token, access token) are stored encrypted in the database. The access token is refreshed automatically and seamlessly when it expires, with no action from the user.
Step by step
From the settings, a step-by-step wizard with tutorial screenshots guides the administrator through creating the Dropbox developer app, enabling permissions and copying the redirect URI. The credentials (App key and secret) are entered and the app is then authorised via OAuth.
Each section can enter its own Dropbox app credentials, or rely on a shared global configuration defined at instance level. Users who belong to several sections switch the organisation whose Dropbox they are viewing with a selector.
Members browse their Dropbox from eBrigade in a paginated table with search and sorting: PDF preview via a temporary link, thumbnails for images, download, upload of local files and deletion, depending on the rights they have been granted.
Where this module really pays off
Associations & NGOs: access to Dropbox files from eBrigade after OAuth set-up, with built-in search and sorting.
Training centres: course materials and certificates that can be viewed, previewed (PDF preview, thumbnails) and uploaded directly from the built-in browser.
Multi-site organisations & field teams: each section connects its own Dropbox credentials or shares a global configuration, and multi-section users switch the organisation they are viewing.
Security-conscious organisations: Dropbox credentials encrypted in the database and separate rights for reading, uploading and deleting.
Frequently asked questions
How do you set up the Dropbox connection?
A step-by-step guided wizard, with tutorial screenshots, walks the administrator through it from the settings: creating the developer app on dropbox.com, enabling permissions, copying the redirect URI, then entering the app key and secret. OAuth authorisation opens a Dropbox window and does not require any password to be shared.
Can Dropbox be configured per organisation in a multi-site structure?
Yes. Each section can enter its own Dropbox app credentials independently, or rely on a shared global configuration defined at instance level. A user who belongs to several sections can switch the organisation whose Dropbox they are viewing with a selector in the browser.
Which operations are available from the built-in Dropbox browser?
Listing folders in a paginated table with search and sorting, previewing PDFs (temporary link) and images (thumbnails), downloading, uploading a local file and deleting. All operations are carried out on your Dropbox space from eBrigade, without going through the Dropbox website.
Can you restrict who views, uploads or deletes files?
Yes. Rights are separate for each action: reading, uploading, editing and deleting are separate permissions, which can be assigned independently by profile and section.
Are the Dropbox credentials secure?
The app credentials (key, secret, refresh token, access token) are stored encrypted in the database. The access token is refreshed automatically and seamlessly when it expires, with no action needed from users. Configuration is restricted to administrators with the required rights.
