eBrigade Advanced notifications module

On the phone or the computer, nobody misses the news

The module reaches your members wherever they are: on the phone, with a notification that appears even when the app is closed, and on the computer, in eBrigade’s bell, which counts unread messages. As a simple message or as a question with reply buttons. It also drives a catalogue of more than twenty automations — from activity creation to fleet deadlines, by way of shifts, staff and management — that go out on both as soon as it is active.

In short

What is eBrigade’s Advanced notifications module?

Notifications on the phone and in eBrigade on the computer, a built-in automation catalogue, precise targeting of recipients by group, availability or skill, and an urgent alert — loud ringtone, long vibration, screen lit up — for anything that cannot wait. It is available as an option, so each organisation can switch it on as needed.

The problem

Why use Advanced notifications?

Your members only receive important alerts and messages if they check their inbox or log in to eBrigade. For a call-up or an activity reminder, that delay can stretch to several hours — and nothing sets an urgent message apart from a routine email. The module adds two direct routes: a notification on the phone, and a bell in eBrigade on the computer, showing how many items are unread.

What changes

What Advanced notifications changes in eBrigade

The module opens two routes at once: the notification arrives on the phone, and it appears in eBrigade’s bell on the computer, with the number of unread messages. As a simple message or as a question with reply buttons. A catalogue of more than twenty pre-built automations — new activity, sign-up, reminder before the start, working time, duty roster publication and replacement, on-call duty, birthday, staff record, skill, qualification certificate, availability, absence request, expense report, vehicle and equipment deadlines and consumable expiry, news, chat, forum, messaging, quotes and invoices, donation, client access, application — goes out on both as soon as the module is active. Who receives what is decided in the clearances; each member then keeps control over what they want to switch off. Before a manual send, eBrigade shows the number of recipients who can actually be reached, and the history lists every send with its response rate. And for anything that cannot wait until tomorrow morning, a button turns the message into an urgent alert: dedicated ringtone, long vibration, screen lit up in red, even breaking through silent mode when the recipient has allowed it.

Features

What you can do with Advanced notifications

On the phone, even with the app closed

Notifications go through the iOS and Android system channels: they arrive even if the member has not opened the app for several hours.

On the computer, in eBrigade’s bell

A bell in the top bar shows the number of unread messages; the panel gives the details and a page holds the history. eBrigade can also be installed as an app on the computer, in one click and without an app store: alerts then appear on screen even when the window is in the background.

Urgent alert for what cannot wait

A button in the message window switches the send to an urgent alert: dedicated ringtone, long vibration and screen lit up in red, with the ability to break through silent mode or Do Not Disturb when the person has allowed it on their phone. Off by default and confirmed before sending, it is reserved for simple messages. Intervention alerts, whether creation or cancellation, use it automatically.

Built-in automation catalogue

More than twenty pre-built triggers, grouped by theme — activity, shifts and on-call duty, staff, logistics, communication, management. Fleet deadlines are tracked separately for vehicles, equipment and consumable expiry, each with its own recipients.

Automatic birthday notification

On the day, members of the same section are told about a colleague’s birthday, with no manual action.

Question with reply buttons

In question mode, add reply buttons (Yes / No by default, freely editable) that the member can tap straight from the notification. Replies are recorded and can be viewed.

Targeting by availability or skill

Beyond targeting by organisation, section, rank or individual selection, an activity lets you target members who are available, unavailable or hold the skill required for the position to be filled.

Everyone sets what they receive

A member’s preferences list the notifications that concern them, grouped by theme, with one box per channel: email, phone, computer. They switch off whatever they like, line by line, and a single button pauses everything. The organisation, for its part, decides who receives what, from the clearances.

How it works

Step by step

1
Switch on the module

The automation catalogue — more than twenty triggers, from activity creation to fleet deadlines — opens in one go, on the phone and on the computer. Nothing to set notification by notification: who receives what is decided in the clearances, and each member keeps control over what they switch off.

2
Compose and target a manual send

Write a message or a question from the send form, then target your recipients by organisation, section, rank or individual selection. For an activity, you can also filter by availability or by the skill required for the position.

3
Switch to urgent alert if the message cannot wait

A button switches the send to an urgent alert: dedicated ringtone, long vibration and screen lit up in red on the recipient’s phone, with the ability to break through silent mode when they have allowed it. Off by default, it asks for confirmation before it is armed.

4
Check reachability before sending

eBrigade shows the number of selected recipients and, among them, how many have a valid mobile token and will actually receive the push notification.

5
Members receive and reply

On the phone, the notification arrives even when the app is closed. On the computer, it appears in eBrigade’s bell, which counts unread messages. In question mode, the reply buttons let people answer without opening the app; replies are recorded.

6
Track the history and replies

The dashboard lists every send, filterable by type, period and section, with a progress bar for the response rate and a time-stamped breakdown of replies per user.

Use cases

Where this module really pays off

Fire and rescue services (SDIS) & urgent mobilisation: push notifications on mobile for operational alerts, received even when the app is closed.

Night-time call for reinforcements: the urgent alert rings loudly, makes the phone vibrate for a long time and lights up its screen, even in silent mode when the person has allowed it.

Associations & volunteering: activity reminders and call-ups sent by push with a question and reply buttons (available / unavailable).

Activity sign-up: recipients targeted by availability or by the skill required for the position to be filled.

Team life: automatic birthday notification to members of the same section on the day.

Training centres: notifications to enrolled learners (session start, new news item, documents available).

Front desk and administration: people at a fixed workstation see requests arrive in eBrigade’s bell, without leaving the screen they are working on.

Module FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do notifications work even if the eBrigade app is not open on the phone?

Yes. They go through the phone’s notification system (Android/iOS) and appear even when the app is in the background or closed.

What about people who work on a computer?

They are notified too. A bell appears in eBrigade’s top bar with the number of unread messages; the panel gives the details, and a page holds the full history. eBrigade can also be installed as an app on the computer — in one click, without going through an app store — and alerts then appear on screen even when the window is in the background.

Do you have to choose between the phone and the computer?

No. Switching on the module opens both at once, for all notifications. Each member then decides what they keep, notification by notification and channel by channel, from their preferences.

Can you send a notification with a choice of replies (available/unavailable)?

Yes. Question mode lets you send a message with reply buttons, set up from the send form (Yes / No by default, which you can replace with labels of your choice). Replies are recorded and can be viewed in the history.

How do you tell an urgent message apart from an ordinary notification?

With the urgent alert. A button in the message window switches the send to this mode: the phone then plays a dedicated ringtone, vibrates for a long time and lights up its screen in red, whereas an ordinary notification just shows a discreet banner. The button is off by default and asks for confirmation before sending, so it stays reserved for what really deserves it. It applies to simple messages; a question, which expects a reply, keeps the ordinary mode.

Will an urgent alert wake someone whose phone is on silent?

Yes, that is what it is for — and both platforms allow it. On iPhone, breaking through silent mode is a capability Apple grants, on application, only to apps whose use justifies it: eBrigade obtained it in August 2026. On Android, it relies on a special access that the person grants from their phone’s settings. In both cases one consent is still needed, the recipient’s, once: no app can grant itself this right, and the device has the final say — total silence may still block it. The app tells each person whether the urgent alert is ready to ring on their device, and offers to open the relevant setting if it is not.

Do you need to remember to switch on the urgent alert for interventions?

No. Every intervention notification — dispatch or cancellation — automatically goes out on this channel, with no setting or box to tick. Nor does it appear in individual preferences: an intervention alert cannot be switched off. The manual button only applies to messages written from the communication window.

Which automatic notifications are available?

More than twenty pre-built triggers, grouped by theme in each person’s preferences: new activity, sign-up, reminder before the start, working time, duty roster publication and replacement, on-call duty, birthday, staff record, skill, qualification certificate, availability, absence request, expense report, vehicle and equipment deadlines and consumable expiry, news, chat, forum, messaging, quotes and invoices, donation, client access, application. Each one can be switched off independently, channel by channel.

Can you target recipients by availability or skill?

Yes. On top of targeting by organisation, section, rank or individual selection, a send linked to an activity lets you filter members who are available, unavailable, or who hold the skill required for the position to be filled.

Can you tell how many members will actually receive the notification before sending?

Yes. Before sending, eBrigade shows the number of selected recipients and, among them, how many have a valid mobile token — in other words, how many can actually be reached by push.

Can each member choose which notifications they receive?

Yes, and the decision is theirs. Their preferences list the notifications that concern them, grouped by theme (activity, shifts, staff, logistics…), with one box per channel: email, phone, computer. They switch off whatever they like, line by line, and a single button pauses everything. What the organisation decides, for its part, is WHO receives what: that is set in the clearances.
